Who we are

We are a neighborhood, family church in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. We are an Episcopal Church that believes in continuing the rich traditions of the past while being open to seeing how God is working in the present.

Our congregation reflects the diversity of Roxborough itself, and so we have both long time members as well as those who are new to the area. Some of us were raised Episcopalian, while others  are new to the Episcopal Church having been raised Roman Catholic, Lutheran, or Reformed. If you are looking for a new spiritual home in Roxborough, we hope that you will come and join us for worship.

The first services of the Episcopal Church of St. Alban were held on June 26, 1859, in a store at 6785 Ridge Avenue. On September 15, 1860 the cornerstone of the church was laid. The first service of worship was held in the church on October 13, 1861 and the church of St. Alban was consecrated on January 8, 1862.
